Escape

We couldn't wait to get out of Barcelona. We had an early flight to Milan via Lufthansa. We left nothing to chance and made it to the airport in plenty of time. We'd heard many stories about pickpockets, dangers in Milan. We have to say that we saw none of that. Milan is without a doubt the cleanest, friendliest, politest, safest and most beautiful city we have seen so far.

It was a long trip from the airport to the city but that was worth the journey alone. The check in was fast and easy so we headed straight to the cathedral. The third largest basilica in the world. It can also trace it's history back to the year 53 AD. Incredible. We took lots of pictures of the inside, but none do it justice.



We have instantly fallen in love with Milan.



Rather than take the metro back to the hotel, we decided to take a tram. That did not go well. Our advice is, don't. The tram lines aren't shown on any tourist map and we have no idea where it went. Short story is we got lost! We had changed trams too, that just made things worse. In the end, only some excellent navigation backed up with serious guesswork got us out of trouble and back to the hotel. We still have no idea where we ended up.
