A Brazilian

We caught the train to Lisbon. Nice. Comfortable. Fast. Take note Australia.

We arrived around lunchtime, after Gary was almost shoved out of a metro train. We dumped our bags at the hotel and set off to the local castle. Much of Lisbon was leveled in 1755 by an earthquake, so it seems much more modern in comparison to Porto, but it doesn't have the same charm.

We also checked out on of the many cathedrals and attempted to get into the national pantheon. It was closed, but in hind site, we don't think we missed much.

Now to the Brazilian. We looked around a pick for food and discovered the local portuguese / brazilian restaurant (had you worried, didn't we?). Again, no one spoke a word of English and it did not look good. Once Jo explained to them that we were Australian and not English though, they really looked after us. For €14.50 we had olives and bread for entree, I had a huge plate of shredded cod with rice and a heap of green stringy stuff which tasted quite nice. Jo had a brilliant stew with heaps of meat in a black bean sauce complete with what may have been trotters. Yum yum. Luckily included in that price were two beers each to wash down the toenails. ;) We tipped big that night as they were wonderful.

Thought for the day. Queuing is not native behavior in all cultures.
