Avila and Segovia

So, another day another day tour. This time Avila and Segovia. Avila is famous as a former capital of Spain, as is every other city in the country, or so it seems. But the city walls are very impressive. It was also the place the Christian knights used as a base to wrest control of Spain back from the Moors.

Segovia was also a former capital of Spain! It was the founded by the Romans in 435 AD, and still has the remains of the aqueduct the built (Apart from the aqueduct, what have the Romans ever given us?).

Thought for the day, organised tours are easy but may leave you feeling a bit like you missed something.

Reg: All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
PFJ Member: Brought peace?
Reg: Oh, peace - shut up!
