Leaving Madrid

Last day in Madrid. We headed down to the royal palace, finally our first queue. So, instead we wandered the palace gardens and then through the nearby cathedral. The cathedral was much more modern and very surprising in that regard.

Following that, we ventured below the cathedral. It was built on top of the original Roman-Catholic church, since converted into a crypt. One of it's features is the 1000 year old painting of the virgin Mary.

After the crypt, we caught the metro to the Crystal Palace. It's in a huge garden, like Southbank, if Southbank wasn't crap and had a lake. Interesting note, check the people in their togs in the boats.

And here is the Crystal Palace.

Finally, back to the hotel, grabbing or bags and heading to the airport. Now we are in Portugal, Porto to be precise. The hotel rooms keep getting better.

Thought for the day. The best place to hide your purse and passport is in your suitcase. Unless both the key to your suitcase and the hidden spare happen to be in your purse.
