Rather than push ourselves, we decided to book an organized tour, especially, when we found that the terminal for the bus was less than 5 minutes walk.
El Escorial an old monastery and royal pantheon just outside Madrid. It is the eighth wonder of the world. No photos allowed inside out of respect that it holds the remains of all of the Spanish kings and queens. The crypt was one of the most amazing things we have ever seen.

Toledo is the former capital of Spain and dates back to Roman times. The city is excellent to behold, but little did we know it would be surpassed the very next day (see tomorrow's blog).

Thought for the day, organized bus tours can be great, as in the morning trip to El Escorial or they can be like the afternoon trip to Toledo.
