Venice Part 2

Let's say we may have judged Venice harshly yesterday. Today was much better. The cruise ships have all left and so has much of the crowd. Apparently, four ships had docked yesterday. Even the gondoliers were turning away business.

We started out with a trip to Murano. That's where all of the good glass wear comes from. We (Jo) made our first big purchase since the proposal, a large a very heavy vase. It is nice to say the least.

It was also laundry day again, so we went to what seems to be the only laundromat in Venice. There was another Aussie already doing his washing. We settled in for a quiet stubbie while we waited. In came America, only people who we have ever seen struggle in a laundromat. The guy was hopeless but the girl who was apparently Russian could only read Russian or English. Maybe the little flag beside the instructions was not as obvious as we thought.

This laundromat was fast, so this gave us plenty of time for a walk through the streets of Venice, some shopping and finally our gondola ride. Expensive yes, but a must. It was brilliant.

Thought for the day. First impressions are not always right. Venice is wonderful.
