Venice Part 1

First impressions of Venice are not good. Crowded, unfriendly, expensive. Did we mention crowded? Apparently, the population of Venice doubles everyday with the load of tourists, around 60,000 and all of then seemed to be at San Marco Square at the same time as us. There were huge queues for the main attractions at the square, so we took the opportunity to see the local Dali exhibit. Very cool, we thought.

That gave the bulk of the crowd the chance to disperse, so we headed into the cathedral and then to the bell tower for a grand view of all of Venice.

Then we discovered the side of Venice that you don't hear about. Off the tourist areas, we popped into a cafe and just couldn't get served. Some parts of the city just don't like tourists. We guess that's the same all over the world though, because, "Everybody hates a tourist, especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh".

We then headed back to the hotel, that's when we made a fantastic discovery. Right next door was a Chinese restaurant. Finally a meal without bread or pasta.

I think they just confused you for a Merican. Time to break out the Wallabies shirt. You might get better service... or beaten upon!
