We arrived in Rome in just over 1 hour. We found the hotel without too much trouble and with the help of a couple of very nice strangers. The hotel is an an area well serviced by buses and trams which is perfect. The hotel room was ready when we arrived so we dumped our bags and headed to the colosseum.

The line at the colosseum was the biggest we had seen, so we headed to the roman forum instead. There the line was much shorter, but we discovered that we could by a pass here hat covered both the ruins and the colosseum. When we had done the ruins a few hours later, we walked straight into the colosseum, past all of the people still queuing who had not figured out the secret.

We then had a bit of a wander around the area close to the colosseum, before heading back to the hotel. On the way back, we got caught up in the Rome Gay Pride Rally. Basically the Rome version of mardi gras.

Thought for the day. Even if it looks like rain, don't forget the sunscreen.
Footnote, across the road from the hotel, we have found the best restaurant yet.
