Queueing Theory

It was raining lightly when the day started. We armed ourselves with raincoats and umbrella and commenced to see Florence. The first stop was the gold markets on Ponte Vecchio. Very dangerous territory for a man's credit card but Jo was very well behaved and only seized the opportunity for some ideas.

We then passed by some of the smaller palaces and churches. We stopped for a look inside the Santa Maria Basilica. This is the final resting place of Michelangelo, Dante and Galileo among other legendary people.



We then checked out the Duomo and the markets, settling on a leather belt each hoping for better bargains in Naples.

We then queued for 2 hours in the rain to see Michelangelo's David. At various points we almost gave up. We can both say however, that while in hind site we should have booked, it was well worth every minute in the queue. Note that the picture is the replica - no photos allowed of the original.



We then headed back to the hotel and the local "Irish Pub", which served no Irish beer or even cider at all, but did have a fantastic happy hour.

Thought for the day. Good things come to those who wait.
